What Sets This Bond Plan Apart - Investing in what we own

A common topic of discussion is how the March 3, 2026 bond plan is different from past plans. This plan prioritizes investing in what we already own to create and sustain strong schools rather than building everything brand new.

It builds on existing strengths by preserving valued spaces at McPherson High School, including the Roundhouse, the Performing Arts Center, and newer classroom areas. This approach balances fiscal responsibility with the need for modern learning spaces.

By using Eisenhower as the future home of the middle school, the plan reimagines one of the newest buildings in the district into a space that all students will experience, supporting strong schools and inspired students for years to come.

The plan also prioritizes efficiency by right-sizing the district’s facilities and reducing the total number of buildings in operation. Right now, much of the district’s capital outlay budget goes to emergent situations like a sewage backup at MHS or a roof leak at MMS. Updating all facilities to modern standards will shift the focus to routine, preventative maintenance and create strong facilities for decades to come.
